How to fit your Clip-In extensions:

Before fitting;

·         Straighten or curl your own hair (depending on which style of extensions you have purchased) as this will give a more natural blending of your own hair with the extensions.

·         Put a little mousse on your fingers and run this through the roots of your hair.

·         Prior to commencing fitting, practice opening and closing the extension ‘snap clips’. Use both thumbs, and index fingers, to apply firm pressure to the clip ends. Leave each one in its open state, in preparation for fitting.

·         Always insert the extensions from the bottom of the head and work up.

Fitting:

1.      Starting at the lower back section of your head, use a tail comb to horizontally section your hair, at the lower back of the head i.e. just below one ear to the second ear.

2.      Clip your remaining hair, firmly on the top of your head, to keep it out of the way as you fit the wefts.

3.      Back comb your natural hair a little at the roots only and spritz with a little hairspray.

4.      Next take one of the wider hair wefts for the back of the head, and placing the middle clip in the centre of your hair, snap it shut at the roots where you have back-combed. Repeat this then for the other clips at the end of the weft. ALWAYS fix the centre clip first.

5.      The clip-in weft hair extension should now be fully stretched out with the hair weft as parallel as possible to the parting you made.  Check for lumps and gaps and if you can feel bad positioning of the hair weft then undo the offending clips and reposition them until the weft feels correct and is as flat as practical to the scalp.

6.      Release the hair you held out of the way and create a new horizontal parting a little above the first one.  To do this, comb down a layer of hair with about half an inch or so between each weft.  Each time secure the surplus hair, on top of your head.

7.      Now insert the remaining wefts in the same manner as above.  Repeat the process with a new parting above each weft extension until all the back pieces have been fitted.

8.      Then, section your hair at the side of your head as above and insert and position the side pieces so they frame the face and blend with your own hair. Then comb your natural hair so that it lies flat over the extensions.

9.      Check in a mirror that your own hair is combed over the wefts and the clips so that the hair looks natural. A little more backcombing underneath the top layer of your natural hair which is covering the wefts can be useful to give a little body. Finally smooth your hair and you are ready to go.

10. Now that they are fitted you may wish to add a little leave in conditioner to them to “feed” the hair and keep it in tip top condition. Be very gentle when brushing your clip-ins whilst fitted so as not to pull them out.

How to care for your Clip-In extensions

·         Do not use styling products with strong hold factor, a serum and or leave in conditioner is all that is needed.

·         To avoid damage to your own hair (and the extensions) remove before sleeping and remember clip in extensions are for occasional use and should not be worn for prolonged periods of time.

·         Always use heat protection spray when applying heat to the extensions.

·         A complete shampoo and treatment can be applied once every four to six weeks, only if needed (Hair extensions don't have the supply of natural oils which your own hair has and washing them too often will dry them prematurely).

·         Apply diluted shampoo and very gently stroke through the hair from root to tip keeping hands open and flat, rinse and repeat with conditioner.  The use of a shower head may be easier and keeping the top clip part of the extension dry is recommended to avoid it rusting.

·         Avoid tangles and allow hair to air dry naturally.  Do not comb hair when wet.

·         Drying may be an overnight process, once dry gently comb through the hair starting at the tips, apply a heat protection product and straighten each strip individually, use a swift action and do not hold the straighteners in one place.

·         Spray on a leave in conditioner to finish.
